See Latest News to read about our Special Interest talks.  These are informal mini talks preceding the main lecture;  topics may include stories around some of lesser known objects in the EMDL  or an object related to one of the main presentations. This is great opportunity to learn more about this rich collection of medical objects, their provenance and the people who may have been associated with their story.

Talks are ~ 35 minutes, starting promptly at 6.15pm usually held in one of the small meeting rooms or as a walk and Talk". Bookings are not required but for space reasons numbers are limited to  about 12-15 people.

The Programme archive section shows some of the previous presentations from 2021, along with brief biographical details of speakers and an abstract. (To access  details double click on the  title of presentation.)

A Lecture  Announcement  will be circulated electronically 2-3 weeks prior to the date of the meeting confirming details.

Presentations cover a range of topics related health history including biographical life stories of medical pioneers, public health historical issues such as epidemics and preventive medicine, historical events and significant medical discoveries and innovations.

At times, there will be displays of relevant historical items or book sales. A selection of historical books from the Library’s collection is commonly available and can be made available for short term loan.
